CHINA

CHINA SYNDROME...

Having followed the trade and health news closely lately, I must confess that China's products scare me. It looks like nothing from there -- from food to toys and clothes -- are safe for consumers. I am curious to see if Beijing can do some serious damage control by the time the 2008 Olympics arrive. But, then, I found myself thinking that even if they manage to get their food and water -- the most important aspects of health -- under safety and regulatory controls and make these generally safe for consumers, the air pollution is surely going to be more of a problem to visitors. (Unless, of course, the changing weather patterns manage to blow China's polluted air to Europe or across the ocean over to other land mass.)

Talking of weather -- looks like I am tuning in to watch CNN mainly to catch what havocs the fast-changing weather patterns are inflicting around the world, besides the natural disasters like earthquakes. Global warming is a scary thing indeed, especially the way the weather is proving to be an unstoppable force.
